Candle Care
To get the most out of your candle and ensure it burns beautifully and safely, here are some key tips for proper candle care:
-
Trim the Wick: Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent the candle from burning too hot, reduces soot, and ensures a cleaner, even burn. A shorter wick also prevents the flame from getting too large, which can cause the candle to burn too quickly.
-
Burning Time: For the first burn, let your candle melt all the way to the edges of the container. This creates an even wax pool and prevents tunneling (where the candle burns down the middle, leaving wax around the edges). Ideally, burn your candle for 2-4 hours at a time—this helps achieve an even burn while also allowing the scent to fill the room.
-
Keep the Candle Clean: Ensure there’s no debris (like wick trimmings or dust) in the wax pool, as it can cause the candle to burn unevenly or produce excess smoke. If any debris does get into the wax, carefully remove it with a pair of tweezers.
-
Avoid Drafts: Keep your candle away from drafts, open windows, or vents. Wind can cause the flame to flicker, burn unevenly, or even create excess smoke, which could shorten the life of your candle.
-
Extinguishing the Flame: Instead of blowing the candle out (which can cause wax to splatter), use a candle snuffer or gently dip the wick into the wax with a wick dipper to put out the flame. This helps prevent smoke and extends the life of your wick.
-
Burning on a Safe Surface: Always burn your candle on a heat-resistant surface, and ensure it's placed on a flat, stable area. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from flammable items like curtains or paper.
-
Store Properly: When you're not burning your candle, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This prevents the fragrance from fading and ensures the wax stays in good condition.
By following these simple steps, you'll get the most out of your candle, enjoying a clean, long-lasting burn and an enhanced fragrance experience!
